Ice cream is a feeling
Bingchillin, a wordplay on the Chinese pronunciation of ice cream 冰淇淋 / bīng qí lín, is my venture into the world of homemade artisan ice cream. Ice cream is an incredibly special food because it can be eaten across the full spectrum of emotions from sadness to happiness and it will always makes you feel better. I am particularly in love with its profound associations with childhood, and as such, often tap into my own childhood growing up as an Asian American to immigrant parents in a predominantly Latinx community as a source of inspiration for flavors. Making, eating, and sharing ice cream with others is simply a sublime joy for me.
